While we’re best known for our carports and other metal buildings, Coast to Coast Carports also specializes in larger metal clear span buildings. We’re proud to offer free-span metal buildings up to 80’ wide, and as long as needed. Our clear span buildings are free of supporting legs and can be constructed to fit any commercial or residential need. Coast to Coast’s expert fabrication team carefully manufactures each clear span steel building and, like all of our buildings, they are installed by trained professional installation crews.
The web truss engineered designs of our clear span buildings allow for super strong and affordable trusses that span as wide as 80′. We fabricate our structures from the same galvanized steel tubing as our other metal buildings. This web truss design includes a “web” of triangular shapes formed from the precise welding of our fabrication teams. Forklifts are required to lift the trusses into place as a professional installation crew welds and bolts them together.
Clear span buildings are used to make a variety of structures, from large carports for semi trucks or buses to warehouses, workshops, and even aircraft hangars. In many cases, businesses need wide open, unobstructed floor plans to drive equipment through or store large items. Clear span metal buildings are the perfect solution! We even use clear span buildings ourselves at Coast to Coast Carports. Much of our fabrication operations run out of a steel clear span building. We also use them as loading bays for our installation crews as they load up for building deliveries.
The maximum width of a clear span building from Coast to Coast Carports is 80’. There is no maximum length. We have yet to turn down a building because it was too tall, having built buildings with leg heights in excess of 20 feet. We’re proud to be able to build almost any clear span building.
Clear span buildings have a wide variety of options available such as walk-in doors, windows, transparent panels, commercial sized roll-up doors, insulation, interior panels, and more. These options don’t come standard. Just let us know what you have in mind, and we can work on a custom quote to meet your needs!
A web truss building from Coast to Coast Carports must be installed on a cement foundation. This foundation can be an entire cement pad or a continuous concrete footer. We ask that the outer 1.5′ of the pad (the footer) be at least 2’ deep for the right support. If you have any questions about properly preparing the pad site for your clear span building, contact us and we’ll be happy to help you get ready for your new building.
Like most of our metal buildings, the standard roof pitch for our clear span buildings is a 3/12 pitch, but we can accommodate other pitches upon request. The exact pitch and roof type can be determined depending on how large your building will be and what you plan to use it for.
Construction of the web trusses and other parts can take a few weeks depending on material availability. Once the parts are constructed, they’ll be freighted to the work site. Actual construction time depends on the building size, so it varies between a couple of days to several weeks. We’ll be sure to keep you updated and informed based on your particular project.
Apart from the affordable cost of the clear span building itself, there are a few other costs you should factor into your budget. Our customers can expect to pay for freight, forklift fees, and engineer drawings and calculations for certification. These costs are usually about 2.5% of the price of the building.
