Metal Carports

Your car sits outside tonight. Hail, UV, bird damage, tree sap — it adds up over years. A steel carport is the fix that lasts decades, not seasons.

We build custom metal carports from American steel and install them on your property across the U.S. You pick the size, roof style, and color. We deliver and anchor it in place. Single-car models start around $1,695. Two-car, three-car, RV-height, and commercial options are all available.

Roofing Styles for Metal Carports

Every carport we build uses 1 of 3 roof styles. The right choice depends on your weather, your budget, and how long you want it to stand.

Vertical Roof Metal Carport

Vertical Roof Metal Carport

The vertical roof is the strongest option we offer. Panels run up and down the slope, which means rain, snow, and debris clear off instead of sitting. It also gets additional hat channel framing that the other styles don't include. If you're in a region with heavy snow loads, frequent hail, or hurricane-season wind, vertical is the right call. Any structure over 36 feet long requires a vertical roof.

A-frame horizontal (boxed eave) carports

A-frame horizontal (boxed eave) carports

Panels run horizontally on an A-frame pitch. You get the peaked roofline without the cost of a vertical build — a practical middle-ground for moderate weather regions. Wind resistance is better than regular style. A good fit if you want the A-frame look at a lower price point.

Regular style carports

Regular style carports

The most affordable roof style. Panels run horizontal from end to end with rounded edges at the corners. Built for mild weather and commonly used for residential and agricultural structures in areas without heavy snow or frequent severe storms. If you mostly need vehicle shade and rain cover and your climate is mild, regular style handles the job.

American Made Quality Metal Carports

Every carport we build starts with American steel. We use 14-gauge framing as our standard, with 12-gauge available for larger or higher-load applications. The frame is galvanized, which fights rust from the inside out instead of just from the surface

When we install, we anchor the structure to the ground or set it in concrete, depending on your site and local requirements. You're getting a structure built to stay put — not a canopy that lifts in the first windstorm.

If you've been protecting your vehicle with a tarp or wood canopy, the difference is real. Steel doesn't rot, warp, or buckle under a snow load. It also doesn't need painting every few years.

Applications for Prefab Metal Carports

Most buyers come to us for vehicle protection. The ways people actually use these structures go further than that. Common uses:

  • Car, truck, and SUV parking
  • RV and camper storage
  • Boat storage and off-season cover
  • Outdoor workspace and equipment staging
  • Patio cover and shade area
  • Farm and agricultural equipment storage
  • Commercial parking areas

Size and roof style determine what works for each application. An RV needs at least 12 feet of clearance and a vertical roof. A two-car residential carport can work with a regular roof if your weather is mild. Call us at (866) 681-7846 and we'll point you to the right model for your situation.

Build your custom steel carport

Every carport we sell is built to your specs. You choose the width, length, and height, then add whatever else you need. Nothing about our builds is one-size-fits-all. Customization options:

  • Width, length, and height dimensions
  • Roof style (regular, horizontal, vertical)
  • Anchoring system (ground anchors, concrete anchors, mobile home anchors)
  • Additional side and end wall paneling
  • Windows and walk-in doors
  • Garage door openings
  • Engineer certifications and stamped drawings
  • Foundation type

Use our 3D builder to visualize your build before ordering. Or call (866) 681-7846 and a building specialist will walk you through it.

Metal carport color options

We offer 14 colors across roof, walls, and trim — pick a combination that matches your property or stands on its own.

Color options include Barn Red, Rawhide, Slate Blue, Quaker Gray, Pebble Beige, and more. If you want an unpainted finish, our Galvalume panel option gives you a natural metallic look that holds up well without any coating to maintain.

Roof, wall, and trim colors are all chosen independently. The 3D Color Planner shows you exactly what your combination looks like before anything gets built.

Metal carport sizes and prices

Metal carport prices vary based on size, roof style, added options, and your install location. A 12x21 single-car regular style starts around $1,695. A three-car or RV-height carport with a vertical roof runs considerably more.

Here's a general sizing guide:

Use case Recommended width Recommended length Suggested roof style
1 car (standard) 12 ft 20–21 ft Regular or horizontal
2 cars 18–22 ft 20–26 ft Regular or horizontal
3 cars 26–30 ft 20–30 ft Horizontal or vertical
RV or camper 18 ft 30–40 ft Vertical (12–13 ft height)
Large RV or boat 22–30 ft 35–55 ft Vertical
Commercial parking 30–40 ft 30–55 ft Vertical

Pricing varies by state because some areas require engineer-certified structures, which adds to the base cost. See our metal carport prices page for a full breakdown by model.

If budget is a concern, we offer both financing and Rent-To-Own options — no large upfront payment required.

Certified vs. non-certified metal carports

Some states and counties require a permit before installing a metal carport. Permit-required areas usually want an engineer-certified structure, meaning the design carries a stamp from a licensed engineer for local wind and snow load requirements.

When you need a certified carport

If your county or HOA requires a building permit, you'll need a certified structure. Certified carports include additional framing, cross-bracing, and engineering documentation. They're also worth considering for areas with heavy snow or sustained high winds, even where permits aren't technically required.

When a non-certified carport works fine

In many rural and suburban areas, smaller residential carports don't need a permit. Non-certified structures still use quality steel framing. 14-gauge construction on a non-certified carport holds up well in mild-to-moderate weather. Check with your local county building department, or call us at (866) 681-7846 and we'll tell you what we've typically seen required in your region.

Certification and permit requirements vary by county, not just by state. We don't guarantee permit outcomes, but we can help you understand what your area usually requires.
