Long-Term Benefits of Eave, Trim, and Gutters on Metal Buildings

In addition to unique color combinations, there are several accessory options you can choose from to enhance the overall appeal and value of your structure. But by including accessories such as gutters, trim and eave flashings, you can enjoy more long-term benefits than increased value and aesthetic appeal.

Why You Should Add Eave Flashings, Trim, and Gutters to Your Steel Structure

When it comes to the aesthetics of your prefab metal building, the possibilities are nearly endless. And while as the customer, you are given full control over the design of your structure, there are certain accessories you can add after installation to further the appeal of the unit. Three of the most common accessories added to structures that not only enhance its appeal but also increases its efficiency are listed below.

  • Eave Flashings- Eave flashings are the components attached to the edge of your roof. One of their most important features is that they cap off the wall panels where the rib comes out, protecting the unit from moisture or water damage. This also enhances the look of the building by sealing the bottom of the paneling. Another advantage is that it will keep bees, dirt-dobbers and other creatures from forming nests in your building*.*

  • Trim - In addition to enhancing the aesthetics of your structure, adding trim to the building will also provide it with a watertight seal. There are several trim types you can have included in the design of your steel building, including J-trim, L-trim, outside corner trim, gable trim, rake trim and several more. The primary purpose for roofing trim is to close all panels off and seal them to prevent any water damage or pests from entering the unit.

  • Gutters - Though they are often used for the aesthetics of your steel building, gutters provide more than just looks. Gutters keep the water from settling around the foundation of your structure. Without them, you could experience issues with drainage and could eventually face washout problems if you do not have a concrete foundation. If you opt for gutters, it’s crucial that you maintain them by having them cleaned out regularly.
